i've said it before and i'll say it again. it's not nice to play with people's feelings. i have a friend, whose girl cheated on him. she wasn't even sorry or regretful. i was there when he saw her with another guy. the hurt on his face... i wish i could have said something to make him feel better. but i couldn't. all i could do was stand beside him and watch the person he thought he loved with another. when she saw him, she walked over and told him that she wanted to break up. and she looked at me and said very nastily (to him):"i never loved you anyway." and that was the worst thing a person could have said. surely there must have been some sort of feeling for him? and to say such a cruel thing, especially in front of me and the new sucker she had found. needless to say, i felt some sort of vindictive pleasure in watching my friend tell her that she was a stinking two-timer, a spendthrift and a big time flirt and he was better off without her. he even told the new guy:"better watch your back. a person who can cheat on her boyfriend can easily cheat on her new boyfriend." i was quite proud of the way he handled the situation. but when we walked away, he looked a little crushed.
but truth be told, he knew they were having problems. more than once had he voiced his fear that she was only with him because he was older (20) and was working. you know the whole status thing and the money thing. i never met her since he only started dating her 3 months ago. he felt surprisingly okay after we walked to the bus stop. i guess we both knew that yes, feelings had been hurt, but the fact that he wasn't devastated/going to commit suicide meant that his feelings for her hadn't developed until the very crucial "i love you so much i could die for you" stage. and we were glad about that. at least he had found out before it had gotten so much worse.
so why? why can't people just not play around? it's cruel. but life isn't very fair, neither is it a bed of roses. actually, it is a bed of roses in a way, since roses have thorns, but that's not the point. it's saddening that love has become so hurting. i'm not generalizing but it's very terrible to find out that the other party wasn't faithful.
just like it takes two hands to clap, it needs both parties commitment to their relationship for anything to work. one may be willing, while the other isn't. problems shouldn't be swept under the carpet. if you really love the person, you should try. but there shouldn't be force involved.
i think i know better than anyone else how much love can hurt.
but i also know that love is uplifting and all those other qualities. it doesn't take a genius to figure out that it is the people who make the difference in love being hurtful or just plain wonderful.
if only wishes came true.
{-when you say you love me-} -->how apt that i'm listening to this clay aiken song.
